ABOUT US

The Ransom Notes is a student run co-ed a cappella group at the University of Chicago.  We sing an eclectic range of music, everything from 16th-century counterpoint to jazz and hip-hop.  We perform frequently on campus, at local venues, and other colleges around the country.  We even got to sing for the President of the USA!

Your 2010-11 Ransom Notes!
(not pictured: Garrett, Justin, and Omar)

There once was a group, a cappella
Made up of both ladies and fellas
They were called Ransom Notes
And the sounds from their throats
Make it rain- hope you brought an umbrella!

The Notes hail from the great Windy City
(U. Chicago, for more specificity)
Their sopranos sing high
All their basses are guys
And their altos and tenors are pretty.

From Matt’s low Ds to Merry’s high Es
And Garrett, who can reach Caroline’s knees
They all hope they sound sweet
As they sing and compete
At this year’s a cappella ICs!
